Blythe Dolls has been around since the early 1970’s. But only 30 years lated did it become famous among doll collectors. Thanks to Gina Garan a New York tv and video producer. She published a photography book of Blythe fashion dolls in 2002 and later that year Hasbro gave licence to a Japanese company to manufacture the dolls. These big head dolls became an instant hit. There are 2 types of Blythe dolls. New Edition of Blythe dolls (NEO) and the other one is petite blythes.

What make these dolls so much different than Barbie dolls except for the fact that they both have disproportionate bodies. Well, the Neo dolls’ eyes can be change colours while the petite blythes, just like pullip dolls, has movable eyelids. Another difference between Blythe dolls and Barbie dolls is that, Blythe dolls are not toys. The are not for children to play with. Collectors item.

The look so unique and cute, I believe that once you get hold of one you will never stop buying more. :) So how much one of these dollies? From 20 usd up to 300 usd. You can even buy set of clothes for them like below. A couple of complete kimono sets.

Darn cute!
