USB gadgets are cool and fun. Some make pretty good promotional items, some are very practical and useful, some are just wacky.

At the moment of typing this, I am sitting at the edge of my bed with a warm laptop (not my own laptop) on my lap. Looking at the USB Lap computer desk, I think I might need one.

Imagine instead of having to put your laptop on the coffee table or your lap while watching tv, you have this lap computer desk. It has 2 built in speakers and silent fans to cool of your laptop.

Powered by a USB connection to the computer, the 2.1-channel amplifier drives two 5-watt speakers and a 10-watt subwoofer. Two quiet, integrated fans positioned under the keyboard spin at 1500 rpm to keep the laptop cool even with extended use. Buttons on the desk handle speaker volume and muting as well as turning the fan on and off independently.

Electronic pets has always been fun for me. Though I know they can never replace real live pets, but they are good enough when you want to have a pet and yet don’t need the hassle of caring for a real one.

We’ve heard about virtual pets, electronic pets, and virtual babies. Now you can even own your very own Virtual Emo kid. What are emo kids anyway? I think they are like version 2 of Gothic kids. Those who goes around in all black. Dye their hair black, black nails, black eye shadows and lipstick.

Anyway, you may choose to have either a virtual Emo Boy or an Emo girl. Unlike ordinary online tamagotchi that you need to feed, play with, clean and such, this one you only have to visit. If you do not visit him or her for a day, the depression meter will go up 10%. For every visit you make depression meter goes down 20%.

What will happen if your depression meter goes up to a 100%, you ask? Well, it would commit suicide. Errr, there won’t be any gruesome scenes to see, like finding your emo kid hanging by the neck on the ceiliing when you visit him or her, but just like a tamagotchi or any other virtual pet, I suppose they just die and you just don’t see them anymore.
