Every day when you flip through the newspapers, there would be at least one if not more crime news about somebody being attacked, robbed and more. So much so that there are more and more compact and easy to carry self defense products which are being sold in the market. The first ever self-defense product that I got as a gift was a keychain alarm, which would give out a very loud noise when I push a button on the keychain. Fortunately, I never find the need to use it.

There are other kinds of self-defense keychains that would make a great gift for your loved ones. Pepper spray, electric zapper and even a harmless looking cat keychain.

Look pretty harmless and cute eh? But can you imagine the sort of damage which they can cause if held this way?

We are already in the middle of Autumn, and in a few weeks time, we can say hello to winter. One dreaded season for many of us. For me, the snow looks magical, but the coldness that it brings is terrible. I can never stand the cold. Not to mention the increase in the heating bill.

To heat our apartment would cost us much more now since the price of gas has increased. It is a good thing that we have low voltage electric blankets and even heated mattress pads as an alternative. We can turn down our thermostat when we sleep and yet feel warm in our beds at a cheaper cost.

I remember as a child of 4 or 5, I wanted a pedal car. I got one actually. Something that look like a racing car. But I had to share with my younger brother. It has been ages since I last saw one of those. Many I see these days are battery operated.

USB gadgets are cool and fun. Some make pretty good promotional items, some are very practical and useful, some are just wacky.

At the moment of typing this, I am sitting at the edge of my bed with a warm laptop (not my own laptop) on my lap. Looking at the USB Lap computer desk, I think I might need one.

Electronic pets has always been fun for me. Though I know they can never replace real live pets, but they are good enough when you want to have a pet and yet don’t need the hassle of caring for a real one.

We’ve heard about virtual pets, electronic pets, and virtual babies. Now you can even own your very own Virtual Emo kid. What are emo kids anyway? I think they are like version 2 of Gothic kids. Those who goes around in all black. Dye their hair black, black nails, black eye shadows and lipstick.

Anyway, you may choose to have either a virtual Emo Boy or an Emo girl. Unlike ordinary online tamagotchi that you need to feed, play with, clean and such, this one you only have to visit. If you do not visit him or her for a day, the depression meter will go up 10%. For every visit you make depression meter goes down 20%.

What will happen if your depression meter goes up to a 100%, you ask? Well, it would commit suicide. Errr, there won’t be any gruesome scenes to see, like finding your emo kid hanging by the neck on the ceiliing when you visit him or her, but just like a tamagotchi or any other virtual pet, I suppose they just die and you just don’t see them anymore.
