A week or so ago, I posted about the Flip: Faraway tree stories DS. People from Electronic Arts did not forget Artemis fowl fans too.
In one cartridge there are 6 best books from the Artemis fowl series. No more space to take up on the bookshelves, nor does it weighs so much if you would like to have to take some good books to read along with you on a trip.
What’s more the books are interactive where you will find links to click on where you can see pictures of the main characters in the book and interesting sound effects.
At the end of each chapter there are simple quizzes to check the reader’s level of comprehension of the last chapter they read. There is also a feature for parents to keep track of the reading progress and how well their kids understand the story.
Pretty neat. I suppose if more and more books are converted into game cartridges like this, perhaps one day we would all buy less and less paper books and even sell books from their shelves to make more space for other things.
Having a Nintendo DS does not limit one to only playing games on it, but also learning and reading on it. For Enid Byton fans out there, you can read one of her famous series ‘Faraway trees stories’ right from your DS! ( another selling point for you kids out there to get your parents to buy a Nintendo DS )
Only… it is a little bit more fun and without the bulkiness of a book. The collection contains six books - The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree, The Folk of the Faraway Tree, Silky and the Rainbow Feather, Melody and the Enchanted Harp and and Petal and the Eternal Bloom. They are interactive where you can click on links for pictures of characters and also sound effects. Collect mushrooms, flowers, feathers and musical notes as you read through to unlock bonuses and secrets. There are even progress tracker for the parents to check how much their kids have read and quizzes about the stories to see how much the kids understand and remember.
Nearly all children I know loves pretend games. I too loved to play pretend games as a child. One popular pretend playing is being a shop keeper. It’s fun to sell things. One thing about pretend business is that at least you don’t have to worry about business insurance and even if you are losing money instead of making it, you can still open your shop happily the next day.
Now although pretend playing only needs any household items to play with and of course imagination, but to help to make it feel a lot more realistic for the children, there are many pretend game toys that can be purchased. Like this pretend & play snack shop.
The set comes complete with toy snacks, play money, and a stand. Children will not only have fun but learn about the importance of money as well.
I bought Robert Kiyosaki’s cashflow 101 & 102 the egame version for my husband as a Christmas present. He asked me to get the board game but I got the electronic version instead because with a board game he would have to find people to play with and there is only me. However with an electronic version, he would be able to play against the computer or go online and play a multiplayer game with people from around the world, when ever he feels like playing.
If you want to learn how to become an investor, I suggest you get these games. At least the cashflow 101. Cashflow 101 is basically to make you learn or practice how to manage your financials, learn to identify liabilities and assets - real estate, doodads, mutual funds, dividends, good debt vs. bad debt, etc - choose the right opportunites that will get you out of the rat race and retire. Cashflow 102 on the other hand is an extension of 101. Same things, but a little more complicated and much more realistic. E.g you may need a little knowledge about stocks and also know how to read the charts, financial lingoes etc. In order to play Cashflow 202, you need to first install Cashflow 101.
Below is an introduction video of the egame. There’s a short video of Mr. Kiyosaki giving a bit more explanation on what the game is about.
Many people are becoming aware of how important it is to keep the body free from impurities that if not managed will cause a lot of health problems. Thus detoxification products, colon cleansing pills, and other such products are becoming much sought after.
I find the video about flushing or cleaning your nose with salt water and a few other cleaning methods very interesting and rather close to home since I do have a family member who are suffering from summer time allergy.
It is true that we may need to cleanse our bodies for a healthier life, but we shouldn’t forget too that we also should pay attention to what we put into our bodies - the type of food, drinks or even smoking. No point in cleansing our bodies if we keep on burdening them with all sort of unhealthy things.
