Pedometers.

My pedometer just arrived in the mail today. I’m pretty excited about it. I know that I may not be moving about enough but you know, unless you see it for yourself you just won’t budge to do something about it. In case if you do not know what a Pedometer is, it is a small cute device that tracks the amount of steps you take when you walk.

It is said the average person who works a sedentary job would walk between 1000 to 3000 steps a day. Counted from the time he or she get up and walk in the morning till sleeping time at night.

According to study, in order to keep fit, lose weight and reduce risk of diseases, one needs to walk at least 10,000 steps a day. That is if the person only walk for exercising.

I do not exercise these days, so I figured this would be good for me to start to become more active. Those who use pedometers said that they tend to move more when they have their pedometers on compared to when they don’t. It motivates them to beat the previous day record.

Now what kind of pedometer I went for? An Omron HJ-112. I went and read reviews on amazon and other websites including watching video reviews on expotv and youtube. People seem to think highly of the device.

It display the normal steps you take, aerobic steps (when you walk fast more than 20 minutes or so), calories burnt and the distance you’ve covered. It also has a 7 day history record so that you can see the amount of steps you have taken for the past week.

Selling for only about $20 currently on Amazon.com. I got mine through ebay since Amazon do not deliver to where I’m at nor do they have any at Amazon.co.uk.

I got one for somebodyelse as a gift too. I really do think these make great gifts.
