I have been a fan of the PC game The Sims for years. I have been hooked ever since I played the first series. Adding the extension everytime a new one came out. Currently it is the Sims 3 PC that I’m hooked on. I know that there is Sims 3 game application for Ipod and Iphone. Which I am thinking of getting once I get my Ipod touch. Or I could just wait for my Sims 3 for the NDS which can be bought sometime in October.
I played a bit of the Sim 2 NDS but didn’t like it so much as it isn’t exactly like the PC version. But Sims 3 sims to be a bit more promising as I assume it would be like the on the PC game.
I think this game is one of the most successful games out in the market is because of the ability of making your sims into anything you want. You can make your sims as as successful as can be in their career and family life. Or you can make them into sloppy losers. Or kill them off when you are tired of them. Just like real life sims can go shop for groceries, buy books, go to the movies, watch the games at the stadium, dine at the diners, visit the library, hang out at the park, go to the gym, and more. I think if they can add clothes shopping at the mall, online shopping option, and perhaps the choice of doing quick weight loss diets instead of getting the sims on the threadmill and pump iron for hours, to shape up would be a fun addition.
Well, I do look forward to try out the Sims 3 NDS. Just hope it isn’t a dissapointment as the Sims 2 NDS.
A week or so ago, I posted about the Flip: Faraway tree stories DS. People from Electronic Arts did not forget Artemis fowl fans too.
In one cartridge there are 6 best books from the Artemis fowl series. No more space to take up on the bookshelves, nor does it weighs so much if you would like to have to take some good books to read along with you on a trip.
What’s more the books are interactive where you will find links to click on where you can see pictures of the main characters in the book and interesting sound effects.
At the end of each chapter there are simple quizzes to check the reader’s level of comprehension of the last chapter they read. There is also a feature for parents to keep track of the reading progress and how well their kids understand the story.
Pretty neat. I suppose if more and more books are converted into game cartridges like this, perhaps one day we would all buy less and less paper books and even sell books from their shelves to make more space for other things.
Having a Nintendo DS does not limit one to only playing games on it, but also learning and reading on it. For Enid Byton fans out there, you can read one of her famous series ‘Faraway trees stories’ right from your DS! ( another selling point for you kids out there to get your parents to buy a Nintendo DS )
Only… it is a little bit more fun and without the bulkiness of a book. The collection contains six books - The Enchanted Wood, The Magic Faraway Tree, The Folk of the Faraway Tree, Silky and the Rainbow Feather, Melody and the Enchanted Harp and and Petal and the Eternal Bloom. They are interactive where you can click on links for pictures of characters and also sound effects. Collect mushrooms, flowers, feathers and musical notes as you read through to unlock bonuses and secrets. There are even progress tracker for the parents to check how much their kids have read and quizzes about the stories to see how much the kids understand and remember.
I was browsing the Oklahoma criminal defense website and it reminded me of games that I got for my nintendo DS earlier this year. Phoenix Wright game series.
Being a gamer, a lover of any drama series relating to the court room, this game is just great and addictive.
The first game of the series, Phoenix Wright - ace attorney, came out years ago, so it isn’t new story. Since the reception of the game was pretty encouraging, there are 2 other Phoenix Wright series that came out later, Phoenix Wright - ace attorney- Justice for all, and Phoenix Wright - ace attorney- Trials and tribulations.
The 4th game, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney came out to be a little bit of a disappointment for me. Well, not because it is any less good as the earlier ones, but the main character isn’t Phoenix Wright but Apollo Justice. Well, after 3 games, I’ve gone quite attached to Phoenix Wright.
The 5th game, Ace Attorney Investigations: Miles Edgeworth just came out in Japan sometime in May earlier this year. As you may have guessed from the title of the game the main character is neither Phoenix nor Apollo, but Miles Edgeworth. The 5th game is said to be a little different from all the 4 previous games in the series. While the 4 previous games investigation mode would be shown on the first person camera view, in this 5th game the investigation mode would be in the 3rd person camera view. Well, you’ll get what I mean when you try out the games yourselves if you haven’t already. Though I’ve tried out the other 4 games, I haven’t tried this one just yet. I will, when ever I get the chance.
After all these years the games have been out and you still don’t know about them yet, I’d recommend you to try them if you love rpgs and court room based games.
In the Pop cutie - street fashion simulation game, you will be living a life of a fashion designer and a boutique owner on your DS. In this DS game you will be roleplaying as a guy/girl who dreams to be a successful fashion designer.
To design clothes you have to talk to people and they will provide you with keywords. Look around for new colour ideas when you look at the flowers you find in the city. Combine the keywords and create new looks and choose the colours you want them to be in. Then start selling!
You start of by selling your creations at a flee market then go up from there. You get to hire employees according to how much you want to pay them and their skills (unfortunately no employee background check system here, ha ha) manage them, assign them to specific duties, and get them to wear your designs as an advertising scheme. Call the magazine to advertise the clothing of your choice. Also employ models at the modeling agency and make them display on the streets to lure more buyers to your boutique.
There are targets to be reached at each level. For example get fanatic fans of your clothing lines, win a fashion competition etc. Words of caution, you may get addicted to it.
