I posted about getting the Lumix DMC LS5 sometime ago. A pretty pink, powered with 2 AA batteries camera. With all the nice feature advertised that made me decide to buy it – 14 MP, Optical stabilization, 2.7″ LCD screen and HD video - I finally had to send it back as soon as the shop opens.
I do not know whether it is that particular camera or all Lumix LS5 is the same. I have a Lumix fz28 and very satisfied with it so I was sure that this Lumix would be the same (well, a little less quality as it is a way cheaper camera than the fz28). However, what a let down. The image is average at best and the interesting thing is, it could not focus close up well. What my Samsung Gio phone camera could do it could not! How can a phone camera be better at focusing? This is a point and shoot camera, so even set on Auto it should be able to take simple pictures nicely. Well at least better than a phone camera. That is all I expected it to do.
So that was the short lived relationship I had with the camera. Right after the 28 trial picture I took, I packed it and sent it back to Mediamarkt. Good thing that it has a “2 weeks no quibble” policy. They took it right away and asked whether I would like to exchange with something else. Which I did.
I took the Canon A3200 is. I had the Canon A400 and loved it ( I still have it now after 8 years). I have been using the A3200 for two days now and loving it so far. Will post up some picture soon.
It is never to soon to shop for Christmas. In fact it is better to start early as you don’t have to do last minute preparations. Many shopping centers had already started selling Christmas tree decorations, gift wrappers, holiday cards and christmas gifts even though we still have more than a month to go till the much awaited holiday of the year.
I’ve started to shop for books for starters before I think of buying some other things. And also got some materials to make homemade gifts at home. Even thinking about Christmas gifts makes me feel all excited about it.
My verdict after using the phone for 3 weeks – it is okay, but not that great. Even with an 800mhz processor, there is lag. I mean really bad lag. Not only that, it froze on me a few times that even by pressing the off button would not do a thing until I had to take off the battery and put it back in again. The other drawback is the battery life. It totally sucks. I need to recharge the phone everyday even after very little usage a day. After experiencing these thing, I found out that it seems to be a pretty common problem with this phone.
Other than those drawbacks, the phone is good enough for me. I love the googlemap. Though not as good as a portable gps but it does it’s job. The hotspot tethering to share my mobile internet on my phone to my laptop through usb or wifi is also a very useful feature.
So if you don’t mind the mentioned drawbacks, I would still say this is a good phone to have.
I am considering to get myself a new slim compact camera as a birthday gift to myself this year. Not that I really need one, but would be nice to have a small enough camera to fit in my small bag easily. As I’m considering Canon powershot currently I’ve been browsing video reviews after video reviews about the cameras in that line. And I found this video of the miniature effect of the canon powershot s95 on youtube. I think it’s cool enough to share it on here. Credit to the owner who created this video.
P/s: I know that I don’t really need a new camera as my Lumix fz28 is just amazing. But I’m such a shopaholic that I need to buy something. Do they have like the benzodiazepines detox addiction treatment for always wanting to buy something new addiction? Bet there would be many people who need that sort of treatment. Myself included.
I like putting my thoughts into words on a piece of paper or just doodle around to describe what I feel. Usually on bits and piece of random paper at hand. I do keep a diary that I write on sometimes however I would like to start journaling again as I used to when I was a teenager.
That is why I’m trying out a moleskine for the first time as some people mentioned that if you are serious about journaling you might want to consider moleskine. I did a little googling about journal notebooks as much as I would if I were to look for the best progesterone cream or best diet pills or best compact camera. At first I was a little put off by the price but decided to give it a go at least once. If it is good, I’d buy it again. Further I’m not too happy about the gel pen bleeding on the paper of my current diary. Look all messy.
Just ordered one off bookdepository.com as I don’t see any local stores. So hopefully in a few days I’d be getting my hands on and find out what the hype is all about.
